How to Overcome Economic Problems in Indonesia

Being a good leader is not enough for someone like SBY in order to overcome the fundamental economy problem, such as poverty, in Indonesia. A country with more than 250 million population, with density more than 50% in the island of Java, has more potential and economic power in East Asia compare to Malaysia and Thailand, need to be chaired by someone who put his life and dream for this nation. Looking to next couple of years when the next presidential election will be held is quite exciting. SBY will no longer served as RI1, and some candidates have trying to self-campaign themselves as the next president of the republic of indonesia. I dont want to discuss who is the best president candidates to be chosen, but i like to discuss what is actually indonesia most fundamental problem that need to be solved by who ever will the next President be.

First, he or she (our future president) need to think like einstein, be fashionable like lady gaga and kick ass like Mad Dog (the raid)…can you imagine that, just kiddo. First they need to put the best person in each Ministry based on his or her vision to make the Ministry have main priorities to cut lose red tape and coruption. Coordinate with the ministry of finance to have at least 30% of National budget being allocated for infrastructure development with 1:3 ratio focus to outside java. The main purpose is to build as many as possible public facilities as economic physical support like road, electrical power, port, etc.

Second, do the regulatory reform that focused on facilitating private sector with national tagline “quicker, faster, better and free!” to such area like opening new business, permits, legalise document, export and import, etc.

Third, give a support and legal incentives to company that can impose a value added products, hire more employee and pay more taxes. This kind of company need to be support and encourage to create a sustainable development against global crisis.

Last but not least, by improving our national education across nation. Education need to be cheap and inclusive, every children in papua need to have the same access of information like children in Menteng have. By improving our educational level hopefully more people can write and think something to improve this country.

In conclusion, by improving our infrastructure, reforming our regulation, facilitating our private sector, and increasing our educational level will at least bring Indonesia into a better economic condition. This wont happen who ever our next president is, but it will only happen if you choose someone who choose this country to be better.

Aku Bermimpi!

Dilema, oh dilema. Nasib bangsa ini yang terapung mengambang di pinggir kali Ciliwung yang tak terawat hingga korengnya berwarna hitam kecoklatan. Pagi hari yang cerah di rumahku, menghirup udara segar bernapaskan CO2 hasil karbonasi gas buang yang beremisi diatas ambang wajar kota tercinta. Emas cair itu kian menanjak tak terkira, saudara-saudara ku tiba-tiba berteriak “lapar! lapar! lapar!”, aku bertanya, “kenapa lapar?” sahut ku kembali karena tak terdengar tanda jawabnya, “kenapa?”, pekikan dari mereka menjawab, “mahal, mahal, mahal”. Ucapkan tolong, pintanya, tanpa ada jawab yang pasti.

Mereka-mereka yang sibuk kian sirna dengan ketololan dan kemaksiatan sandiwara yang mereka rancang sendiri, mengingat panggung 2009 tinggal hitungan bulan dan jari. “Sial!!!!” teriak ku. Caci maki tanpa henti, iklan tivi penuh dengan janji. “1 Satu, 2 Dua, 3 Tiga, terus???” adik ku yang kecil mencoba berhitung. Hitungan deret angka yang seakan menggambarkan jumlah borok yang bertambah masuk ke liang lahat. Mereka yang selama ini tak tersentuh (untouchable). Terperangkap oleh sistem ciptaan mereka sendiri. “ini kah karma?” linang air mata seorang istri yang tak lain penyanyi dangdut. “Goyang Mang!”….

“Bangun!!” Ibu ku yang sudah berumur itu memanggil, berumur bisa dilihat dari banyak nya yang menganggur, berumur bisa dilihat dari tinggi nya kesenjangan, marak nya kemiskinan. “Mau dibawa kemana aku ini?”.

Sesak napas ku tiada henti, menanti datang nya pagi, indah cemerlang mewarnai, seakan semuanya pesona indah tiada akhir. “Humph” hela napas ku, ternyata itu semua hanya mimpi.

Mahalnya Sebuah Pengakuan di Jakarta

Suasana kota Jakarta yang semakin ramai dan padat digelumuti para pencari nafkah baik itu di pagi hari, siang hari, atau malam hari, seakan tidak mengenal lelah. Keramaian tersebut menggambarkan betapa berkembang dan maju nya standard kehidupan dan gaya hidup yang semakin global.

Meskipun hal tersebut hanyalah segelintir kecil yang terlihat dari kehidupan di Jakarta, tidak dipungkiri kebobrokan serta jarak simpang antara yang kaya dan miskin tergeletak di pinggir jalan lampu merah mengadu nasib antara kelaparan hari ini atau mati di esok hari, sebagai perwakilan kelompoknya masih merupakan mayoritas di kota ini.

Simbol sebagai kota metropolis yang dipenuhi dengan gedung-gedung bertingkat, kawasan perkantoran serta niaga, lalu lalang eksekutif muda berdasi serta mobil-mobil mewah bersandar di ibukota tercinta ini.

Salah seorang teman penulis pernah berkata saat berkunjung ke Jakarta, ”Wow, hebat sekali yah Indonesia (Jakarta), gedung-gedung bertingkat serta mobil mewah dimana-mana, tidak seperti yang saya bayangkan”. Memang benar, sebut saja merk-merk mobil mewah ternama seperti BMW, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar.Mungkin 3 dari 10 mobil yang berada di jalan-jalan utama Jakarta merupakan merk mobil tersebut.

Ambilah contoh salah satu price list mobil mewah tersebut di link berikut ini, series 7 yang tersedia di mobil berlambang dominan biru hitam tersebut bisa mencapai Rp 2.5 Milyar. ”Gila gak tuh?!?”. Gak kok, gak sama sekali, malah akan sangat mudah menemukan nya di jalan-jalan besar kota Jakarta.

Have you ever imagine almost Indonesian enjoy having their lunch by eating some donuts? Yes, unbelievable isn’t it? It was never been cross my minds before that around 5 years ago a hole in donuts become so popular nowadays. So let’s spend your time a lil’ bit to read about this hole story, will you?

A doughnut, or donut, referring the definition from Wikipedia is a sweet, deep-fried piece of dough or batter. There are so many popular international brand for donuts such as Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donut.

Yes, for so many years if you asked Indonesian about what first brand come to their mine if u asked about donuts, it must be two majority answer, the first one should be Dunkin’ Donuts and the second one would be donut kampoeng (a cheap home-made donuts). But, now the market seems to have another answers.

It’s exactly started one year ago; I went to this marketing seminar in my university that talked about brand positioning. Johnny Andrean, also known as popular hair stylist, is one of the main speakers. His jobs as a hair stylist, make him to travel around countries and he impressed me of his business instinct and entreprenuership ideas. He taught me a lot about his business history.

One of Johnny successful business is in this hole area known as J.Co Donuts and Coffee. His baby isn’t almost three years but it already makes heaps traffic in queuing area of the J.Co store to taste the crunchy. To him crunchy means profit. Yep that’s true, its real business.

What makes J.Co influence the market? the answer is product innovation. Dunkin donuts as a market leader was already in their comfort zone, make them uncompetitive to the innovation, consumer as the market didn’t have their ability to choose another product, since dunkin is the only one at that moment. J.Co as the new player bring the fresh air to market, by make donuts as a trend setting lifestyle. Marketing mix between sakura strategy and open-kitchen in every outlet seems attract customer curiosity to tried and tastes the new J.Co experience.

Can you imagine, J.Co first outlet was opened in Lippo Karawaci on June 26, 2005. Now its been succeeded to open 29 outlet nationally, including one outlet in Malaysia, and will J.Coing soon in Singapore next year. I must said that J.Co is one of the most successful Indonesia franchise, created and owned by Indonesian. We have something to be proud of and hope to see another innovative idea comes from Indonesian, we believe it will happen. I’m proud to be Indonesian.
