Should Indonesia made their own “Proton”?

Being known as well established manufactured company in south east asia make Perusahan Otomobil Nasional Berhad (PROTON) proud for their competitive and innovative cars. Launched in 1985, Malaysian Prime Minister him self, Dato’ Seri Mahathir Mohamed, who had originally conceived the idea of a Malaysian car. Twenty five years of experience has bring Proton into their ‘Silver era’, can you imagine how proud Malaysian can be right now to have their national automobiles company driven internationally. Malaysia as part of ASEAN member countries are the leaders in the automotive aspect because of this reasons if we compare it with Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia.

Hence, Indonesia used to have their own national automobile in President Soeharto era, which is known as TIMOR, but it was only repackaging of KIA automobile from Korea and did not last that long. Because it is the one and only model they had made. Now if you can imagine how good Malaysia with their Proton, I think Indonesia government should start to think made their own Indonesia version of ‘Proton’. This is because more than 230 billion population in this countries can be a very huge market to build. Not to mention, many positive impacts by having national cars such as enhancement of our technologies awareness, research and development in high technology of automotive industry, large opportunities on creating job opportunities and, the spirit and proudness of our nationalism to have our own national car’s.

Everything start from a scratch, then its developed to be perfect.

Inflation and possibility of better credit rating

Yesterday, Indonesia Central Statistic Agency (BPS) just announced the inflation rate for November have reached 0.60 (month-on-month). This figure will give total contribution for jan-nov 2010 (year to date) inflation to 5.98 percent.

It bring some caution to central bank inflation target that supposed to be within 4 – 6 percent this year. Based on Bahana Securities review explain that this particular increase was drive from the supply side which means an increase of commodity prices such as rice, chilies, onion and cooking oil.

This bring to the point where central bank action to review on their monetary policies to consider raising the interest key rate, which will bring more money to the bank.

Despite to the inflation issues, on the other hand, Moody’s rating agencies is considering to put review on Indonesia credit rating which now on Ba2 grade on Indonesia’s local- and foreign- currency debt. This consideration are taken due to better sustainability and fundamental economic condition of Indonesia.

However, government need to remain alert of what our nation needed most which is more concrete plan and action to improve our infrastructure. This action will bring domino effect for our business environment, loose the high economy cost that will bring to more higher inflation rate.

Arti Penting Keketuaan Indonesia di ASEAN 2011 dalam Bidang Perdagangan

ASEAN Charter atau lebih dikenal dengan Piagam ASEAN telah ditandatangani oleh 10 (sepuluh) Kepala Negara / Pemerintahan negara anggota ASEAN pada tanggal 20 November 2007 ketika KTT ke–13 di Singapura, dan mulai diberlakukan secara efektif tanggal 15 Desember 2008. Piagam ASEAN merupakan salah satu dokumen yang mengubah ASEAN dari sebatas asosiasi di kawasan Asia Tenggara menjadi organisasi yang berdasarkan hukum dan berorientasi pada kepentingan rakyat.

Implementasi Piagam ASEAN sangat penting dalam membawa ASEAN lebih dekat kepada masyarakat. Inti dari Piagam ASEAN tersebut utamanya adalah bagi pembentukan 3 pilar ASEAN Community yaitu Komunitas Politik dan Keamanan (APSC), Komunitas Ekonomi (AEC), dan Komunitas Sosial dan Budaya (ASCC). Hal ini tentunya, mendorong kepada perubahan mekanisme kerja dan struktur organisasi ASEAN yang lebih jelas dan efektif.

Oleh karena itu, pada ASEAN Charter pasal 31 yang mengatur mengenai Chairmanship of ASEAN atau Keketuaan ASEAN dijelaskan bahwa pemilihan keketuaan ASEAN dilakukan secara rotasi berdasarkan alphabet dalam bahasa inggris dari nama negara anggota ASEAN. Dimana negara anggota yang terpilih menjadi ketua diharapkan dapat menyelenggarakan pertemuan ASEAN Summit and related summits, the ASEAN Coordinating Council, the three ASEAN Community Councils, relevant ASEAN Sectoral Ministerial Bodies and senior officials, dan the Committee of Permanent Representatives.1

Sepanjang tahun 2010, Vietnam merupakan Chairman ASEAN dengan bertindak sebagai tuan rumah bagi seluruh penyelenggaraan pertemuan tersebut. Apabila berdasarkan ketentuan rotasi alphabet maka negara selanjutnya yang diharapkan menjadi Chairman ASEAN adalah kembali ke urutan awal yaitu Brunei Darussalam. Namun pemerintah Indonesia mengharapkan hal yang berbeda mengingat di negara ini pada tahun 2013 mendatang akan berlangsung 2 (dua) perhelatan besar dimana Indonesia bertindak sebagai host country yaitu ASEAN dan forum APEC.

Oleh karena itu Indonesia mengusulkan untuk dapat menjadi ketua ASEAN pada tahun 2011 menggantikan Brunei Darussalam, yang kemudian pada tanggal 9 April 2010 bertepatan dengan 16th ASEAN Summit di Ha Noi, Viet Nam seluruh negara anggota ASEAN menyetujui usul tersebut.

Indonesia sebagai salah satu The Founding of ASEAN tentunya mempunyai pandangan nilai historikal tersendiri bagi kemajuan dan pencapaian organisasi ini sebagai bentuk kerja sama antar negara di kawasan Asia Tenggara yang dapat memakmurkan bangsa Indonesia.

Oleh karena itu, disetujuinya Keketuaan Indonesia di ASEAN 2011 tentunya memberi tanggung jawab dan harus disertai dengan langkah serta persiapan yang matang baik dari segi penyelenggaraan, substansi, koordinasi antar instansi, logistik, maupun peran Indonesia untuk mendukung pencapaian tujuan dari ASEAN itu sendiri.

How to put your stress out of Jakarta Traffic’s

Remembering my high school time, when I used to drove my self every morning after I’ve just had my “official” driving license was indeed a great of fun.

Put my self in to the “need for speed 4″ driving mode was pretty cool at that time. The traffic in Jakarta was still friendly. Unfortunately, now as you all aware it’s pretty hard to reach your top speed even if you are using a brand new Mr.Mercedes-Benz.

More than 10 millions Jakartans use car’s and motorcycle’s for their daily transportation. Since public transportation in Jakarta are far from comfortable and adequate to be utilized. Anyway, I’m not going to talk about how our government to solve this traffic issues (serahkan pada ahlinya!! Mr.you know who!), but how can you actually do to put your stress out if your in the traffic every day to day.

Firstly, you can try to plan your weekly route schedule differently, by doing this you can have a different scenery out of your window car’s, then if you are lucky enough you can see different sky each week

Next, you can try to bring your favorite CD’s that being organize from 70′s, 80′s or even 90′s music chart.

Thirdly, you can have your breakfast and dinner set right in your car, whether its Italian or even Padang food as a menu.

Finally, try to pray that some one will inventing a transporter, where you can transport in second everywhere.

Well enjoy your day, even in traffic guys!!

My New Social Browser

I’ve almost spent my whole day in front of computer -technically speaking- trying to finished my daily task. Preparing presentations, analysing chart, or even sending an email to respective stakeholders. These minute-to-minute jobs limited my time to check my social network website, whether updating my twitt status or even just jump between one news website to another.

This multi-tasking activities are indeed need to be fulfilled immediately. Therefore, i found a very interesting trending topic on twitter one day called “RockMelt”.

RockMelt is a new kind of social browser where you can have a sidebar (edge) of every website link as an answer for your easiness and on the other edges you can list your friends to have chat with. This new web browser is hard to get, because you can not directly downloaded at first, unless subscribe your email address to be sent the download link within 1 week. Yup 1 (one) week, this what makes it worth to be waited.

Now as I’m writing my post, i can easily check the update on my various rss link.

Analisis Peluang dan Tantangan Serta Langkah Pemerintah Indonesia Terhadap Implementasi Penuh ASEAN-China FTA

Pendahuluan

Perkembangan ekonomi dunia khususnya di bidang perdagangan internasional telah memasuki fase perkembangan perdagangan bebas. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari banyaknya jumlah Free Trade Agreement (FTA) baik secara multilateral, regional, maupun bilateral. Kurang lebih secara kumulatif ter-dapat 450 FTA yang telah dinotifikasi sampai akhir tahun 2009. Sebagai contoh: (i) Di benua Amerika terdapat sebuah kerjasama MERCOSUR yaitu bentuk kerjasama regional antara Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, dan Uruguay; (ii) Di benua Eropa terdapat kerjasama ekonomi yang lebih luas dengan terbentuknya sebuah kawasan ekonomi yaitu European Union (EU); (iii) dan Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN) di kawasan Asia tenggara.

ASEAN yang merupakan bentuk kerjasama regional merupakan bentuk kekuatan baru di benua Asia, karena menjadi salah satu kawasan dengan jumlah potensi pasar ter-besar di dunia. Hal ini tentunya menarik minat negara-negara lain yang ingin me-ngembangkan potensi kerjasama mereka di wilayah Asia. Dengan terwujudnya bentuk kerjasama ASEAN+1, ASEAN+3, maupun ASEAN+6.

Terlebih lagi rencana terbesar ASEAN yang akan membentuk ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) yang membawa kerjasama ekonomi ke arah yang lebih luas yaitu dalam satu kerangka komunitas ASEAN. Salah satu negara besar yang menunjukan komitmen kerjasamanya sebagai mitra ASEAN adalah negara Republik Rakyat Tiongkok (RRT), yang secara konkrit diimplementasikan dalam Perjanjian Kerjasama Perdagangan Bebas antara ASEAN dengan RRT.

Latar Belakang ACFTA

Pada tahun 1991 para pemimpin negara anggota ASEAN sepakat untuk membentuk kawasan perdagangan bebas ASEAN. Barulah kemudian pada tahun 1996 RRT secara resmi menjadi salah satu dialog partner sekaligus mitra strategis bagi ASEAN, kemudian pada bulan Nopember tahun 2000 bertepatan dengan KTT ASEAN-RRT, seluruh Kepala Negara menyepakati gagasan pembentukan ACFTA yang dilanjutkan dengan pembentu-kan ASEAN – RRT Economic Expert Group pada bulan Maret 2001.

Kerjasama dengan RRT tidak dipungkiri merupakan potensi pengembangan pasar yang sangat besar bagi kurang lebih 1.3 milyar penduduk RRT yang merupakan potensi market di Negara dengan populasi terpadat di dunia. Potensi sebagai FTA terbesar didunia secara populasi dan terbesar ketiga didunia secara ekonomi tersebut membuat kepala Negara sepakat menandatangani Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between ASEAN and the PRC pada bulan Nopember tahun 2002, dalam hal ini Republik Indonesia diwakili oleh Presiden Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Selama 2 (dua) tahun perundingan berjalan akhirnya kesepakatan ACFTA pun disepakati dan ditandai dengan penandatangan Agreement on Trade in Goods pada bulan Nopember tahun 2004, Indonesia pada saat itu diwakili oleh Menteri Perdagangan Mari Elka Pangestu.
